Businessman Faces Criminal Charges for Writing Illegal Checks

Recently, it was reported that a businessman that was well-respected in his community was arrested for committing numerous white collar crimes. While committing these offenses, he was able to steal roughly $45,000. After conducting an investigation, police were able to obtain enough information to arrest the 43-year-old businessman. He was detained and charged with two counts of writing a check over the felony limit, two counts of writing bad checks over $500, and embezzlement.

The man used to own an auto store. It was at his place of business that he wrote the checks that prompted authorities' suspicion. In total, twelve checks were made out for $43,888. If the suspect is found guilty of the charges against him, he could face up to 40 years behind bars as well as a fine of $20,000. Even though white collar crimes are non-violent, you can land in jail if you are convicted.
