DNA from Milk Carton Links Suspect to Crimes
One thirsty robber got himself nabbed for not just one but two serious crimes in Phoenix, Arizona. The suspect was detained based on evidence gathered at the scene of a robbery that took place on April 14. While the suspect was in the process of conducting an
armed robbery, he decided to stop and drink some milk out of a carton. The carton was brought to a forensics lab and processed; it was later discovered to carry the DNA of the suspect.
Police were surprised when they ran the DNA and found that it was already stored in their computer system. It had been connected to the DNA of a woman that had been sexually assaulted by a man after he broke into her home and stole some items. The man was finally detained in late October on multiple charges including theft crime,
carrying a weapon,
kidnapping, car theft and
sexual assault.
