Police Place Shooting Suspect Under Arrest
This week, police in the Phoenix area are saying that they have arrested a man who was suspected in a shooting that led to a five-year-old boy being critically injured.
According to police, 21-year-old Michael Favela was arrested a day after the shooting and booked into jail on charges of conspiracy to commit a related assault, drug charges and participating in street gang crimes. Officers believe that the shooting occurred after a physical fight broke out near 29th Avenue and Taylor. One of the people involved in the fight left the scene and returned with a group of people. They then fired shots into a nearby residence.
The five-year-old boy was sleeping on a sofa when he suffered gunshot wounds to the chest. An 18-year-old was also shot in the leg.
Favela was allegedly among 10 to 15 other unidentified males at the shooting and officers are asking that people with information come forward and contact Phoenix police as soon as possible.
