Man Linked to 1991 Murder Through DNA
In the city of San Jose, California, police officers say that a 60 year old inmate that is currently residing in the San Quentin State Prison has been charged with murder. The victim was strangled to death in 1991.
Prosecutors say that Ralph Baldenegro was charged on Tuesday after DNA evidence linked him to the 10 year old crime. The victim, 26 year old Julie Bucalo, was found dead in her apartment years ago. When police were originally investigating, Baldenegro was their primary suspect, but they did not have enough evidence to link him to the crime.
The prosecutor's crime lab recently re-examined the evidence and were able to find Baldenegro's DNA on the victim's clothing and fingernails.
