Sixth Supsect Arrested for Death of Police Officer

This week, the sixth suspect that is accused of killing an undercover police officer was released from a Phoenix hospital and booked into jail. Police say that 33 year old Christopher Paul Gonzales has been charged with first degree murder, possession of a weapon, possession of marijuana for sale as well as possession of a weapon during a drug sale.

During an undercover operation, Detective Carlos Ledesma was fatally shot and two other officers suffered wounds during a shoot out with drug dealers on July 28^th. The officers say that during the operation, something went wrong and resulted in shots being fired.

Two suspects were shot and killed and Gonzales suffered injuries and had to be treated at a hospital. 34 year old Ledesma was the first officer killed in the line of duty in Chandler since 2002.

Officers say that five other men have been formally charged for their role in the shoot out.
