Sex Offender Facing Rape Charges in Arizona

In Montana, a registered sex offender that was jailed while awaiting trial for three rape offenses in the state has now been arrested for a 2001 sexual assault that occurred in Phoenix, Arizona.
On Wednesday, Phillip Humeyumptewa made an initial court appearance in Great Falls on a charge of being a fugitive from justice. He was ordered to be held without bail.
Phillip Humeyumptewa was placed under arrest at the Cascade County Detention Center last week Tuesday on a warrant out of Maricopa County. His charges include kidnapping, aggravated assault and sexual assault. In 1997, he was convicted of kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor in the state of Arizona.
Now, Phillip Humeyumptewa is facing three counts of rape in Cascade County along with felony crimes, including kidnapping and tampering with evidence. He has pled "not guilty" to his charges.
